Principle Function: The Minister of Worship will serve as a ministerial staff member, focused on leading and overseeing the music and worship ministries.
Staff Relationship: Reports to Senior Pastor
Position Type: Versatile candidate with the potential for up to full-time hours based on capability of varying roles. (i.e. worship plus: communications, missions, senior adult ministry, etc)
Minister of Worship Responsibilities & Skills:
- Possess an active and growing personal & prayerful relationship with Jesus Christ
- Serve the LORD through serving His bride at PHBC
- Maintain confidence and proficiency while on platform speaking, singing, and playing
- Possess passion for worship and a desire to lead others spiritually
- Be flexible to adapt to different worship styles and environments
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development
- Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive worship environment
- Have a willingness to invest the energy needed to understand, PHBC church culture and identity
- Plan and lead weekly worship services & practices
- Create and maintain an annual calendar and the budget of the ministry of worship and music
- Proficiency in reading music and playing a musical instrument, such as guitar or piano
- Establish and foster exemplary relationships with church family in God-focused worship times through music and scripture using Biblically based traditional hymns and modern worship songs that direct praise toward God, encourage the saints, are age-appropriate and winsome
- Possess resume and portfolio demonstrating technical skill with computers and software/platforms for worship
- Communicate consistently to all volunteers, modeling and encouraging the church’s core values, operating agreements, and ministry philosophies
- Coordinate programming between the Worship Ministry and all other Pleasant Hill Ministries
- Recruit, manage, train, and retain leaders and volunteers to fulfill ministry goals
- Other duties as assigned
Staff Liaising: The Minister of Worship serves as a liaison for music, worship, and media related matters, including:
- Senior Pastor: Collaborating on worship service planning and execution.
- Other Ministry Leaders: Coordinating programming between Worship Ministry and other church ministries.
- Volunteer Teams: Building and coordinating teams of volunteer musicians and media/tech people.
- Membership Engagement: Supporting efforts to manage and analyze membership data and interactions.
